Odiane Lokako, president of ELCOS, travelled to Kivu in May 2021 to support raped women and orphans, victims of the atrocities committed in eastern DRC. ELCOS has supported and run reintegration programmes for raped women since 2004.
A few days after her visits to Sake and Goma, the Nyiragongo volcano erupted, leaving hundreds of thousands of people in distress.
